You found the lake house.
Chill lakeside with Nessie at this refreshed Sand Lake retreat by Homestead Hideaways. This 6 bedroom, 4 bathroom Anchorage lake house sleeps 13 with kayaks, SUPs, a gym, air hockey, new furniture, mountain views, moose sightings, and room to spread out after a full Alaska day.
Tucked away on the water, yet close to the airport, Kincaid Park, restaurants, downtown Anchorage, and easy day trips. Wake up slow, paddle from the dock, and end the night by the fire. This is the Anchorage lake house people hope they find.
The one where the lake pulls everyone outside before breakfast. Where kids keep checking the water for Nessie. Where adults end up on the deck with coffee, wine, or just a quiet minute to take it all in.
Set directly on Sand Lake, this 4,000 square foot home gives your group actual room to breathe. You can land, grab bags, and be lakeside fast. The house feels peaceful and private, but you are still close to the airport, Kincaid Park, restaurants, groceries, downtown Anchorage, and the day trips that make Alaska feel huge.
Guests have described the home as spacious, peaceful, cozy, full of character, and perfect for groups. Families have gathered here for big dinners, summer lake days, ski weekends, bucket list vacations, and time together they were still talking about long after checkout. Again and again, the reviews come back to the same thing: there was room for everyone, the location felt special, and the house made it easy to be together.

The main living and dining spaces are where this home really earns its keep. Big windows bring in the lake. The dining area gives everyone a place to land. The living spaces let people gather, wander, play, nap, read, or sneak away for a little quiet.
The kitchen is stocked for real meals, not just reheating takeout. Past guests called out the fully supplied kitchen, the generous dining table, and the way the house made family meals feel easy. This is the place for pancakes before a lake day, a big dinner after exploring, and that rare vacation moment where everyone actually sits down together.
And when nobody wants to cook? You are still in Anchorage. Takeout and delivery are easy, which means the trip does not fall apart just because everyone is tired from the day.
The house is built for group comfort:
👉 Six bedrooms for families and groups
👉 Four bathrooms, which matters when everyone is getting ready
👉 Sleeping space for up to 13 guests
👉 4,000 square feet of room to breathe
👉 New furniture added during the 2026 refresh
👉 A private suite with its own kitchen, great for multigenerational stays or anyone who wants a little independence
👉 A gym and game room for workouts, rainy days, kids, and teens
👉 Kayaks and SUPs for summer lake time
👉 Multiple living spaces so people can gather or disappear with a book
👉 A roomy layout that lets the whole group be together without being on top of each other
Nessie is the wink, not the whole story. The real magic is that the lake gives kids something to do, adults somewhere to exhale, and the whole group a reason to slow down together.
Outside, Sand Lake does most of the work. In summer, take out the kayaks or SUPs, hang on the deck, use the dock, watch the water, and keep an eye out for moose. In winter, the frozen lake and snow covered setting feel like a postcard, while the two gas fireplaces bring the cozy cabin feeling inside.
This is the best of both worlds: a lakefront Alaska stay that feels private, but keeps Anchorage easy.

Guest access
Guests will have access to the home and guest accessible outdoor areas included in the listing, including the deck, dock, seasonal kayaks, and seasonal SUPs. Locked owner storage areas, utility spaces, and private storage areas are not available for guest use.
Other things to note
This is a lakefront residential home, so quiet hours, guest count, parking rules, and respectful use of the property are important.
The home includes lake and dock access, but lake conditions change by season. Summer and winter use of the lake is always at the guest’s own risk, and children should be supervised near the water at all times.
Kayaks and SUPs are provided seasonally for guest enjoyment. Guests are responsible for using them safely, wearing life jackets, and returning all equipment after use.
We provide starter supplies to help you settle in. For longer stays or larger groups, guests may need to purchase additional paper products, groceries, firewood, or personal items during the stay.
The home has a classic Alaska lake house feel with lots of space, character, and personality. It is loved for its setting, size, warmth, and lakefront experience.
Guests have access to the entire home and guest accessible exterior areas, including the deck, dock, and yard. The garage and any locked owner storage or utility areas are not available for guest use.
While I won’t be available in person, I’m just a phone call or text away should you need help with anything during your stay.
Residential West Anchorage address in the 99502 (Bayshore/Klatt/Sand Lake) area. The block is largely single‑family homes and small local businesses nearby; outdoor access includes Campbell Creek greenbelt trails and Sand Lake recreation (water and walks). Local shopping, groceries and services are clustered along Jewel Lake Road and O’Malley/Dimond corridors; downtown Anchorage is a short drive northeast.
Most guests will find a car most convenient. Streets and parking are residential and winter driving can require snow‑capable vehicles although the access road is city maintained and plowed in the winter. Public transit (People Mover) serves major corridors (Jewel Lake, O’Malley, Abbott Road/Spennard) but routes may require a short walk or transfer. Taxis and rideshare operate in Anchorage reliably but rental cars are common for travelers looking to explore areas beyond Anchorage. Biking/walking are practical for nearby parks and short errands in fair weather.
